Space Shuttle Discovery (STS-128) Launch

On August 29, 2009 the American Space Shuttle Discovery (STS-128 flight) was launched from KSC, Florida, USA at 03.59 UTC.
 

 

STS-128 crew:

Seated are NASA astronauts F.Sturckow (right), commander; and K.Ford, pilot.

From the left (standing) are astronauts J.Hernandez, J.Olivas, N.Stott, European Space Agency's C.Fuglesang and P.Forrester, all mission specialists.

N.Stott will remain on the station as an Expedition 20 flight engineer replacing Timothy Kopra. T.Kopra will return home aboard Discovery as a mission specialist.
Discovery is carrying the Leonardo Multi-Purpose Logistics Module.
 
This is Discovery's 37th mission to space and the 30th mission of a space shuttle dedicated to the assembly and maintenance of the International Space Station.
