Soyuz TMA-03M successfully docked to ISS.
On December 23, 2011 at 15:19 UTC the Russian "Soyuz TMA-03M” spacecraft successfully docked with the ISS. The spacecraft docked to the Russian "Rassvet” module of the ISS.


 
The "Soyuz TMA-03M” crew of Oleg Kononenko, Andre Kuipers and Donald Pettit joined Expedition 30 crew of Anton Shkaplerov, Anatoliy Ivanishin and Daniel Burbank, who arrived at the station on November 13, 2011 by Soyuz TMA-22. Now the Expedition 30 crew consists of 6 persons.

Soyuz rocket falls in Siberia after fail launch.
The mishap occurred about seven minutes after the "Soyuz-2.1b” rocket-carrier equipped with the "Fregat” booster was launched from Plesetsk Cosmodrome in northern Russia on December 23, 2011 at 12:08 UTC. The Soyuz rocket fell back to Earth a few minutes after launch. The RIA Novosti news agency reported debris was found in the region of Novosibirsk, the third-largest city in Russia. Novosibirsk is about 3000 kilometers southeast of Plesetsk Cosmodrome. The rocket was to orbit the "Meridian” communications satellite for the Russian military.

China launched a high-resolution mapping satellite.
On December 22, 2011 at 03:26 UTC the Chang Zheng-4B (Long March 4B) rocket-carrier was launched from Taiyuan Cosmodrome in Shanxi province, China. The rocket orbited the "Ziyuan-1-02C” remote sensing satellite.
The spacecraft was developed by the China Academy of Space Technology and is the country's first high-resolution remote sensing satellite. Ziyuan 1-2C carries black-and-white and color cameras to provide officials with imagery for land resource surveys, disaster relief services, agriculture development, forestry, water conservation, environmental monitoring, city planning and other applications.

Russia launched Soyuz TMA-03M manned spacecraft.
On December 21, 2011 at 13:16 UTC the Russian "Soyuz TMA-03M” manned spacecraft with a new crew for the International Space Station (ISS) aboard was launched from Baykonur Cosmodrome. The spacecraft was orbited by the "Soyuz-FG” rocket-carrier.
The crew of the space vehicle consists of 3 members: Commander – Russian cosmonaut Oleg Kononenko; Flight-engineer - European Space Agency astronaut Andre Kuipers (the Netherlands); Flight-engineer - American astronaut Donald Pettit.
