China launched its first space station module.
On September 29, 2011 at 13:16 UTC the "Chang Zheng-2FT” (Long March) rocket-carrier was launched from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in northwest China's Gansu Province.
The rocket orbited the "Tiangong-1” unmanned space lab module.

The launch paves the way for China's first rendezvous and docking mission. An unmanned Shenzhou-8 spaceship will be launched in November to dock with Tiangong-1. The 8.5-tone module will remain in the orbit for two years, operating mainly in an unmanned regime. It is also capable of carrying up to three astronauts for 20 days.

USA launched a military satellite.
On September 27, 2011 at 15:49 UTC the Minotaur 4 rocket-carrier was launched from Kodiak Launch Complex in Alaska, USA. The rocket orbited the "TacSat-4” U.S. Navy satellite to give military forces better communications links on the battlefield.

Sea Launch got back into the business.
On September 24, 2011 at 20:18 UTC Sea Launch AG successfully launched the Atlantic Bird-7 broadcast satellite from the Equator on the ocean-based Odyssey Launch Platform, marking its first mission for Eutelsat Communications.
The satellite was orbited by the Zenit-3SL rocket-carrier. The rocket was launched from the launch platform, positioned at 154 degrees West Longitude in international waters of the Pacific Ocean. The satellite was built by Astrium, an EADS company.

Japan launched a spy satellite.
On September 23, 2011 at 04:36 UTC the H-2A / 202 rocket-carrier was launched from Tanegashima Space Center, Japan's primary launching base off the southern coast of the main islands. The rocket orbited the IGS O-4 spy satellite.
The secret satellite, built by Mitsubishi Electric Corp., is circling Earth in a sun-synchronous orbit with an altitude of more than 300 miles. The spacecraft was a more than $500 million payload outfitted with an optical camera and telescope to supply imagery to the Japanese government for intelligence, defense and civilian remote sensing applications. The spacecraft will become an operational member of Japan's optical spy satellite fleet.

Arian 5 launch.
On September 21, 2011 at 21:38 UTC the "Arian 5” rocket-carrier was launched from the Kourou space center in French Guiana. The rocket orbited 2 communications satellites - Arabsat 5C, a communications satellite for broadcasting and Internet services and the SES 2 satellite.
