SpaceX orbited a communication satellite.
On August 05, 2014 at 08:00 UTC the “Falcon-9” rocket-carrier was launched from Cape Canaveral launch site of US Air Force. The launch was performed by the SpaceX company. The rocket orbited the AsiaSat-8 communication satellite into geostationary transfer orbit to beam television and data across China, India, Southeast Asia and the Middle East. AsiaSat 8 is designed to operate for 15 years. AsiaSat 8 is a Chinese geostationary communications satellite which is operated by the Asia Satellite Telecommunications Company. AsiaSat 8 was built by Space Systems/Loral.
