The 3rd space flight of Cygnus completed.
On August 17, 2014 at13:15 UTC the "Cygnus” (CRS-2) unmanned supply spacecraft was deorbited. The spacecraft re-entered the atmosphere and burned up over the South Pacific Ocean. Packed with trash and other equipment tagged for disposal, an Orbital Sciences Corp. “Cygnus” spacecraft plunged back into the atmosphere over the uninhabited Pacific Ocean, concluding a one-month mission to resupply the International Space Station. The re-entry occurred east of New Zealand two days after the Cygnus spacecraft was released from the space station's robotic arm. It was the third flight of "Cygnus” to the ISS.

The last ATV spacecraft launch to Space Station.
On July 29, 2014 at 23:47 UTC the ATV-5 " Georges Lematire” European unmanned supply spacecraft was launched from the Kourou space center in French Guiana to deliver cargo to the International Space Station. The space vehicle was orbited by the Ariane-5ES rocket-carrier. The 5th Automated Transfer Vehicle (ATV), named for the Belgian priest and physicist Georges Lemaitre behind the Big Bang theory, is scheduled to dock with the aft port of the Russian "Zvezda” module on August 12. The Automated Transfer Vehicle is the biggest spaceship of its type, capable of carrying food, supplies, experiments, fuel, water and air for the space station's six-person crew. The spacecraft weighed more than 20 tons at launch, making it the largest in the fleet of international resupply vehicles servicing the space station. But this launch marked the last flight of the ATV. "Georges Lemaitre” is the last ATV, s ... Read more »

"Spaceship Janice Voss" arrived at space station
On July 16, 2014 the American "Cygnus” (CRS-2) private unmanned supply spacecraft was docked to the International Space Station (ISS). The Cygnus spacecraft was grappled by a robotic arm operated by astronauts inside the space station at 10:36 UTC. The cargo spacecraft was docked to the station’s "Harmony” module. The official time of capture of the "Cygnus” with the Harmony module's common berthing mechanism was 12:53 UTC. Orbital Sciences christened the Cygnus as "Spaceship Janice Voss," naming it for the late astronaut and former Orbital employee. The "Cygnus” (CRS-2) delivered about 1,500 kg of supplies for the ISS and its crew. Among the research investigations aboard Cygnus are a flock of Earth-imaging nanosatellites, hardware to enable a trio of free-flying robots to perform 3D mapping inside the ISS and a host of student experiments. This is the second of the eight Antares and Cygnus cargo delivery missions to the ISS unde ... Read more »
