49 years ago on April 12, 1961 Yuri Gagarin performed the first world manned space flight.
Cosmonautics Day is a holiday celebrated (mainly in Russia) every April 12 to commemorate the first manned spaceflight.
It was established by the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR on April 9, 1962.
In according to the decision of International Aviation Federation (Fédération Aéronautique Internationale, FAI), the World Day of Aviation and Cosmonautics is celebrated on April 12. Attachments: |
