MonacoPhil 2011
From December 2nd to 4th, 2011 the Club de Monte-Carlo and the OETP (the Monegasque Office for Stamp Issues) organized the MonacoPhil 2011 International Philatelic exhibition.
The event was under the High Patronage of H.S.H Prince Albert II of Monaco.
The visitors could see 100 worldwide rarities from 100 world famous collections belonging to His Serene Highness Prince Albert II of Monaco and to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, 10 national postal museums, members of the Club de Monte-Carlo.
The 100 Philatelic World Rarities was on show at the Stamp and Coin Museum of Monaco (Musée des Timbres et des Monnaies). During the Exhibition the Club de Monte‐Carlo was selling a luxury catalogue containing descriptions and colour reproductions of all the stamps and philatelic documents on display. The catalogue was available during the exhibition for €50.
The guest of Honour of MonacoPhil 2011 was the "Royal Philatelic Society of London” (RPSL).
The RPSL organized an Exhibition focusing on "British Commonwealth” philately. Items from the collection of H.M. Elizabeth II took pride of place together with collections belonging to the "Royal Philatelic Society of London” and its 40 members. The visitors had the privilege of admiring pieces which had never exhibited before.
The Royal Philatelic Society and The Club de Monte‐Carlo published a very well documented and illustrated exhibition catalogue.
This catalogue was available during the exhibition for €60.
There was a commercial section with 80 stands operated by postal administrations and well-known international stamp dealers.
On December 2 H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco visited all 3 places of the Exhibition.
Mr. Michael Sefi, Keeper of the Royal Philatelic Collection, and Mr. Alan K Huggins told Prince Albert II of Monaco about the RPSL exhibition.
Prince Albert II also came to the "Space Mail…” exhibit of Igor Rodin who also took part in the event as a member of RPSL.
Igor Rodin had the honor to tell Prince Albert about his Astrophilately exhibit. After that His Serene Highness Prince Albert II of Monaco thanked Chairman of the FIP Section for Astrophilately, Igor Rodin, for his Astrophilatelic exhibit.
At the same day Gala Dinner attended by HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco took place at Hôtel de Paris – Salle Empire, during which the participants of the "100 Philatelic World Rarities" received a diploma.
To promote Astrophilately, Igor Rodin handed over 24 numbers of his "Space and Philately” bulletin to Mr. Brian Trotter, President of RPSL for the RPSL library.
On December 4 the Closing Dinner took place at the Hôtel Hermitage - the "Salle Belle Epoque”, during which the participants of the "RPSL exposition" received a certificate.
