Kosmos-3M Successfully Launches Two Russian Satellites

The Kosmos-3M launcher with a Russian military satellite and the "Sterkh" satellite was launched on July 21, 2009 at 03.57 UTC from Plesetsk Cosmodrome in Northern Russia.

The "Kosmos-3M" is a light–weight liquid–propellant double-stage Russian rocket. This rocket is manufactured by the "Polyot" (Flight) company, the Omsk city – based branch of the Khrunichev Space Center.

The "Sterkh" mini-satellite has been manufactured by "Polyot". The satellite is intended for the international search and rescue satellite–aided system (COSPAS-SARSAT).
