Russian cosmonaut Vitaliy Sevastjanov passed away.
Vitaliy Sevastjanov, famous Russian cosmonaut, passed away on April 5, 2010.

Twice Hero of the Soviet Union, he had many other awards and medals.
He graduated from the Moscow Aviation Institute in 1959 and joined Sergey Korolev's design bureau, where he worked on the design of the Vostok spacecraft. He also lectured at the Cosmonaut Training Centre, teaching the physics of spaceflight. In 1967 he commenced cosmonaut training himself.
After two successful missions, including a two-month stay aboard the Salyut 4 space station, he was stood down from active flight status in 1976. He worked in ground control for the Salyut 6 station before returning to spacecraft design in the 1980s to work on the Buran project.

Soyuz TMA-18 / ISS docking.
On April 04, 2010 at 05:24 UTC the Soyuz TMA-18 spacecraft completed a smooth docking with the International Space Station boosting the station's crew from three to six.
With commander Alexander Skvortsov monitoring a problem-free, automated approach, the Soyuz TMA-18 docked to the Station's new Poisk module.
After extensive leak checks, hatches were opened at 3:19 a.m. and Skvortsov, flight engineer Mikhail Kornienko and NASA astronaut Tracy Caldwell Dyson were welcomed aboard by Expedition 23 commander Oleg Kotov, Soichi Noguchi and Timothy Creamer. Soyuz TMA-18 launch.
On April 02, 2010 the Soyuz TMA-18 spacecraft was launched for the International Space Station from Russia's Baykonur Cosmodrome at 04:43 UTC.

The spacecraft will deliver members of ISS Expedition 23 - Russian cosmonauts Alexander Skvortsov and Mikhail Kornijenko and U.S. astronaut Tracy Caldwell Dyson - to the orbital station on April 4.
The Soyuz TMA-18 mission is the 105th flight of a Soyuz spacecraft since the start of the program in 1967.
