On March 28, 2012 at 22:31 UTC (on March 29 at 02:31 Moscow time) the European ATV-3 "Edoardo Amaldi” unmanned supply spacecraft docked to the International Space Station. The spacecraft docked to the Russian "Zvezda” ("Star”) module. ATV-3 delivered to the ISS about 6590 kilograms of cargo including fuel, water, food and other necessities.
Named Edoardo Amaldi after an Italian physicist and space pioneer, the ATV-3 will stay at the space station until late summer. Edoardo Amaldi is the third Automated Transfer Vehicle built by EADS Astrium for the European Space Agency.
