On May 26, 2012 at 15:56 UTC (23:56 Beijing time) the "Chang Zheng-3B/E” (Long March-3B) rocket-carrier was launched from Xichang Satellite Launch Center in Xichang, southwest Sichuan Province, China. The rocket orbited the "ChinaSat 2A" (Zhongxing-2A) telecommunication satellite.
The satellite, developed by China Academy of Space Technology, will be used to meet the demands for China's radio and TV broadcasting and broadband multimedia transmissions.
