The 55th Anniversary of the 1st satellite.

55 years ago on October 4, 1957 the Soviet Union launched the first world artificial satellite.

In 2012 Russian Post issued the postal stationery devoted to this Historical event.
Total edition are 2 000 000 envelops.
The cover is cancelled with "the 55th anniversary of 1st Satellite launch” official post mark in Moscow on October 04, 2012.

ATV-3 spacecraft is deorbited into Pacific.

On October 03, 2012 the European ATV-3 unmanned supply spacecraft was successfully de-orbited and sunk in the Pacific. The Automated Transfer Vehicle, nicknamed Edoardo Amaldi after a pioneering Italian physicist, plunged into the atmosphere after two rocket burns slowed the craft's velocity enough to fall from orbit.
Debris from the ATV-3 fell into a predefined zone in the Pacific Ocean between New Zealand and Chile at about 01:30 UTC.

China launched a satellite for Venezuela.

On September 29, 2012 the "Chang Zheng-2D” (Long March-2D) rocket-carrier was launched from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in Jiuquan, northwest China's Gansu Province. The rocket orbited the Venezuelan "VRSS-1" (Venezuela Remote Sensing Satellite) satellite.
The VRSS-1 is Venezuela's first remote sensing satellite, and it will be mainly used for the country's land resources inspections, environmental protection, disaster detection and management, crop yield estimation and city plans.
