On November 24, 2015 at 06:50 UTC the Japanese H-2A rocket-carrier was launched from Tanegashima Cosmodrome situated at the island located 115 km south of Kyushu. Kyushu is the third largest island of Japan and most southwesterly of its four main islands. The rocket orbited the “Telstar 12 Vantage” communications satellite. Owned by Telesat of Ottawa, Canada, the Telstar 12 Vantage satellite is beginning a 15-year mission to bridge the Atlantic Ocean with television broadcast coverage, and other communications services for government, corporate, airborne and maritime customers.
