China launched Earth observation satellite.

On May 8, 2018 at 18:28 UTC the “Long March – 4C” (“Changzheng-4C”) rocket-carrier was launched from the Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center in north China's Shanxi Province. The rocket orbited the “Gaofen-5” environmental monitoring satellite to survey global land and water resources, air pollutants, greenhouse gases and other environmental parameters.

Dragon CRS-14 supply spacecraft returned to Earth.

On May 5, 2018 at 19:00 UTC the "Dragon” capsule splashed down in the Pacific Ocean in a distance of 650 kilometers southwest of Long Beach, California. The Dragon delivered to Earth about 1700 kilograms of cargo. It was the "SpaceX CRS-14” mission. CRS means Commercial Resupply Services. It was the 14th flight of Dragon to the ISS with docking.

Dragon CRS-14 spacecraft undocked from ISS.

On May 5, 2018 the station's robotic arm removed the Dragon capsule from its berthing port on the station’s Harmony module. Using a command issued from the Canadian Space Agency’s control center, the robot arm released the Dragon CRS-14 spacecraft at 13:23 UTC on May 5. It was the 14th flight of Dragon to the ISS with docking, including a demonstration flight in 2012.

US launched a space probe to Mars.

On May 5, 2018 at 11:05 UTC the "Atlas-5” rocket-carrier was launched from Vandenberg Air Force Base, California, USA. The launch was performed by United Launch Alliance supported by the 30th Space Wing of US Air Force. The rocket dispatched NASA’s InSight (Interior Exploration using Seismic Investigations, Geodesy and Heat Transport) lander on a 301-million-mile voyage to Mars with a package of European-built instruments to probe the inside of the Red Planet.

China launched telecommunications satellite.

On May 3, 2018 at 16:06 UTC the Chang Zheng-3B (Long March-3B) rocket-carrier was launched from Xichang Cosmodrome, Sichuan province, southwestern China. The rocket orbited the “APStar-6С” telecommunications satellite.
