Yaogan satellites carry high-resolution optical, radar, and signals intelligence instruments, collecting information for analysis by Chinese military and intelligence agencies.

On February 22, 2021, the American "Cygnus” CRS-15 (NG-15, the S. S. Katherine Johnson) private unmanned supply spacecraft was docked to the International Space Station (ISS). The Cygnus spacecraft was grappled by a robotic arm at 09:38 UTC. The cargo spacecraft was docked to the station’s "Unity” module at 12:16 UTC. The spacecraft delivered about 3700 kilograms of supplies to the Space Station. It was the 15^th docking of a "Cygnus” spacecraft with the ISS. This is the 4^th flight of Cygnus under the CRS-2 contract.

On February 20, 2021 at 17:36 UTC the "Cygnus” privately owned U.S. unmanned supply spacecraft was launched from the Mid-Atlantic Regional Spaceport (MARS), a commercial space launch facility located at the southern tip of NASA's Wallops Flight Facility on Wallops Island, Virginia, USA. The spacecraft was orbited by the “Antares-230” rocket-carrier. The "Cygnus” NG-15 (the S. S. Katherine Johnson), previously known as CRS OA-15, unmanned supply spacecraft, built by U.S. space firm Orbital Sciences Corp., was orbited on its cargo resupply mission to the International Space Station. CRS means Commercial Resupply Services. The "Cygnus” NG-15 is the 15^th successful flight of the Orbital ATK uncrewed resupply spacecraft Cygnus.

On February 18, 2021, the successful landing of the “Perseverance” rover in Jezero Crater was announced at 20:55 UTC. The signal from Mars taking 11 minutes to arrive at Earth. The “Perseverance” is a car-sized Mars rover designed to explore the crater Jezero on Mars as part of NASA's Mars 2020 mission. It was manufactured by the Jet Propulsion Laboratory and launched on July 30, 2020. It is the 5^th US rover which will work on Mars.

The spacecraft was docked by using manual docking system operated by Expedition 64 commander, Russian cosmonaut Sergey Ryzhikov to the “Pirs” module of the ISS. But independent analysts believe the “TJSW-6” satellite has a military purpose, and could carry sensors designed to warn Chinese leaders of an impending missile attack.
