The 50th anniversary of the “Soyuz-9” space mission.
The envelope devoted to the “Soyuz-9” space flight was autographed by cosmonauts Andrian Nikolayev and Vitali Sevastyanov. Soviet cosmonauts Andrian Nikolayev and Vitali Sevastyanov spent in space 17 days, 16 hours, 58 minutes and 55 seconds. At that time, it was a new world record of space flight duration. The “Soyuz-9” crew broke the five-year-old space endurance record held by the US “Gemini-7” crew (13 days, 18 hours and 35 minutes). The record for the duration of an autonomous flight (without docking with an orbital station) has not been broken to this day - the maximum duration of the US space shuttle amounted to 66 minutes less (STS-80 mission - 17 days, 15 hours, 53 minutes and 18 seconds).
