China launched the new “Wentian” science module to its space station.
08:02

On July 24, 2022 at 06:22 UTC, the new “Wentian” science module was launched from Wenchang Satellite Launch Center (WSLC), located in Wenchang on Hainan Island off China’s southern coastline. The module was orbited by the Chang Zheng-5B (Long March-5B) rocket-carrier. The 25-ton “Wentian” science module is the second major element of the Chinese “Tiangong” space station. The module will dock with the “Tianhe” core module on China’s “Tiangong” station later on July 24. Chinese astronauts Chen Dong, Liu Yang, and Cai Xuzhe living on the “Tiangong” complex will monitor Wentian’s arrival, then become the first crew members to float into the station’s new module.
