On November 7, 2021 Chinese cosmonauts Zhai Zhigang and Wang Yaping performed the spacewalk from the “Tianhe” ('Harmony of the Heavens') core module to install an adapter linking the space station’s two robotic arms, to install a suspension device on the robotic arm and to test typical movements outside the cabin. Wang Yaping became the first Chinese woman to perform a spacewalk. Ye Guangfu, the other crew member on the “Shenzhou-13” mission, monitored and assisted the spacewalkers from inside the space station.
The EVA lasted 6 hours and 25 minutes. It was the 2nd spacewalk for Zhai Zhigang and the 1st one for Wang Yaping. The spacewalk was the 4th extravehicular activity in the history of China’s space program. Attachments: |
