On December 10, 2010 in Vienna, Austria an informal meeting of the Chairman and the Secretary of the FIP Section of Astrophilately took place.
The plan of the Section’s activity in the period of 2010 – 2012 was discussed.
Jaromir Matejka and Igor Rodin also discussed the question concerning appropriate philatelic material for Astrophilatelic exhibits. It was decided that it would be necessary to clarify in details points of the Astrophilately Guidelines regarded to "messages dispatched by rockets”.
One of the purposes of this discussion is to give a clear possibility to show in an Astrophilatelic exhibit the text (message) marked with board seals together with the cover in which such a message was delivered to / from a Space station. The reason is to demonstrate that flown covers are used not only for official or souvenir or commercial purposes but also for delivering messages to / from Space (space stations).
Please, look at an example:
The letter addressed to Russian cosmoanut Yuri Gidzenko to the "MIR" space station was delivered by a Progress unmanned supply spacecraft.
