On August 12, 2021 at 00:13 UTC Indian GSLV Mk-2 rocket-carrier blasted off from the Satish Dhawan Space Center (Sriharikota Cosmodrome) on Sriharikota Island on the east coast of India. The rocket (GSLV - Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle) was to orbit the “EOS-03” Earth observation satellite. After good performance from the GSLV’s strap-on boosters, first stage, and second stage, the mission ran into trouble when the rocket’s third stage was supposed to take over to accelerate the “EOS-03” satellite into orbit. The Indian Space Research Organization said that the cryogenic upper stage did not ignite due to a “technical anomaly.” Attachments: |
