On January 21, 2011 Russian cosmonauts Dmitry Kondratyev and Oleg Skripochka performed the first spacewalk in this year.
The cosmonauts spent in space 5 hours and 22 minutes instead of 6 hours in according to the plan. The space walkers successfully completed all tasks required of them during their spacewalk ahead of schedule.

For more than four hours Skripochka and Kondratyev installed a high-speed data transmission block on the service module "Zvezda". The cosmonauts also disconnected and dismounted the pulsed plasma injector scientific equipment and installed cameras on the new module of the Russian segment of the ISS. It was the first time in open space for Kondratyev and the second time for Skripochka. It was the 33rd EVA (extra vehicle activity) from the Russian segment of the ISS. Attachments: |
