22:00
On July 15, 2011 at 23:16 UTC the "Proton-M” rocket-carrier equipped with the Breeze M upper stage was launched from Baykonur Cosmodrome.
The rocket orbited 2 telecommunication satellites: "KazSat-2” (Kazakhstan) and SES-3 (USA).
KazSat-2 is destined for a 12-year mission to beam television broadcasts across Kazakhstan and Central Asia. Owned by the government of Kazakhstan, KazSat-2 was manufactured by Russian Khrunichev Space Centre and carries communications instruments built by Thales Alenia Space.
Built by Orbital Sciences Corp. of Virginia, SES 3 is beginning a 15-year mission to deliver educational, international and high-definition programming across the United States and the Caribbean for SES World Skies.
