On November 15, 2019, American astronaut Andrew Morgan and Italian astronaut Luca Parmitano performed a spacewalk. It was the first of four spacewalks to repair the Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer, also designated AMS-02AMS-02 (a cosmic ray detector), breezing through work to prep the device for invasive surgery to splice in new coolant pumps and extend the instrument’s life probing the composition of the universe. The EVA (extravehicular activity) lasted 6 hours and 39 minutes. This was the third spacewalk for Luca Parmitano and the fourth for Andrew Morgan. Attachments: |
