FIP Astrophilately Section.
On October 27, 2010 in Vienna, Austria an informal meeting of the Chairman and the Secretary of the FIP Section of Astrophilately took place. Jaromir Matejka, Secretary and Igor Rodin, Chairman discussed different questions concerning Astrophilately. The possible activities of the Section concerning the 50th Anniversary of the first manned space flight of Yuri Gagarin were also discussed.

Progress M-05M undocked from the ISS.
On October 25, 2010 at 14:25 UTC the Progress M-05M unmanned supply spacecraft undocked from the "Pirs” module of the International Space Station
The autonomous mission will last about 3 weeks. Within these days, geophysical experiments are to be performed, and then the space vehicle will be deorbited and drowned into the South Pacific.
Progress M-05M was launched on February 28, 2010 and delivered about 2600 kilograms of cargo to the station.

The 50th Anniversary of the Russian Mission Control Centre.
On October 03, 2010 the Russian Mission Control Centre marked its 50th Anniversary.
The Mission Control Centre was responsible for supervision and control of such well-known missions as Soyuz-Apollo, all missions regarded to Salyut-series space stations, Mir orbital complex, etc.
The Mission Control Centre is situated in the town of Korolev (the former Kaliningrad), Moscow region.
In according to the Guidelines for Astrophilately, for manned space programs and for deep space missions (after launch) the postmark of the corresponding mission control centre, responsible for supervision, is valid. Russian Post issued the postage stamp devoted to the 75th Birthday Anniversary of Soviet cosmonaut German Titov
 In August 1961 he performed the second in the History of World cosmonautic manned space flight. He was 26 years old during his space flight. He remains the youngest cosmonaut in the world performed the space flight.

Russian Post issued the postal stationery (envelope) devoted to the 30th anniversary of the USSR-Cuba joint space flight. The flight was performed by cosmonauts Yuri Romanenko (USSR) and Arnaldo Tamayo Mendez (Cuba) on 18 – 26 September 1980.

6 Globalstar satellites orbited by Soyuz rocket.
On October 19, 2010 at 17:10 UTC the Russian "Soyuz-2.1a” rocket-carrier with six advanced American "Globalstar” communication satellites was launched form Baykonur Cosmodrome to restore the company's diminished two-way voice and data services.
The "Soyuz-2.1a” rocket-carrier was also equipped with the "Fregat” upper stage.
It was the ninth Globalstar launch on a Soyuz rocket since 1999.
It was the fifth launch of a "Soyuz-2.1a” rocket-carrier.

Soyuz TMA-M docked to the ISS.
On October 10, 2010 at 00:01 UTC the Soyuz TMA-M spacecraft successfully docked to the International Space Station.
The space vehicle docked to the "Poisk” module. The rendezvous and docking was performed in automatic mode.
 
 
After leak check of the interface and the compartments, the hatches between the spacecraft and the station were opened and the Soyuz TMA-M crew Alexander Kaleri, Oleg Skripochka and Scott Kelly joined the ISS crew Douglas Wheelock, Fjodor Yurchikhin and Shannon ... Read more »

Soyuz TMA-M launch.
On October 08, 2010 at 03:10 Moscow time (October 07 at 23:10 UTC) the upgraded Soyuz TMA-M spacecraft with the crew - commander Alexander Kaleri (Russia), Oleg Skripochka (Russia) and Scott Kelly (USA) was launched from Baykonur Cosmodrome.

The Soyuz is to dock with the International Space Station on October 10. The Soyuz TMA-M crew will join the ISS crew of Expedition 25, D. Wheelock, F.Yurchikhin and S.Walker.
The Soyuz TMA-M spacecraft features a variety of avionics and computer upgrades that are being flown for the first time. The software used to control the spacecraft was tested in unmanned Progress supply ships.

China launched 2 satellites.
On October 06, 2010 at 00:49 UTC the Chang Zheng-4B (A Long March 4B) rocket-carrier was launched form the Taiyuan space center in northern China. The rocket orbited two "Shijian 6” research satellites (Shijian-6-04-A and Shijian-6-04-B).
