On February 9, 2020 at around 15:45 UTC, the Iranian “Simorgh” rocket-carrier (also known as “Safir-2A”) was launched from the Imam Khomeini Spaceport, located in Semnan Province, 50 km southeast of the city of Semnan in the north of Iran. The “Simorgh” (Persian: ماهوارهبر سیمرغ, Phoenix) is an Iranian rocket-carrier. The rocket was to orbit the Iranian-made “Zafar-1” (Triumph) satellite. The rocket failed to reach the designated orbit. The satellite was lost.
