On March 24, 2020 at 03:43 UTC the "Chang Zheng-2C” (Long March-2C) rocket-carrier was launched from the Xichang Satellite Launch Center in Xichang, southwest China's Sichuan Province. The rocket orbited three “Yaogan-30” military satellites. The exact purpose of the “Yaogan-30” satellites remains a secret. Information released by Chinese state media said the satellites are designed for “remote sensing” missions, and will be “used for electromagnetic environment detection and related technological tests.” The “Yaogan” series of satellites are believed to be operated by the Chinese military for intelligence-gathering purposes.

On March 16, 2020 at 18:28 UTC the “Soyuz-2.1b” rocket-carrier was launched from Plesetsk Cosmodrome, Arkhangelsk region, North Russia. The launch was performed by Russian Aerospace Defence Forces. The rocket equipped with the “Fregat” booster (upper stage) orbited the “Glonass-M” navigation satellite. The Russian GLONASS Global Navigation Satellite System – operated by the Russian Aerospace Defence Forces – is currently the only global alternative to the American GPS fleet in operation that has global coverage of comparable precision.

Failure launch of Chinese rocket with a secret payload.
On March 16, 2020 at 13:34 UTC, the “Chang Zheng-7A” (Long March-7A) rocket-carrier was launched from Wenchang Satellite Launch Center (WSLC), located in Wenchang on Hainan Island off China’s southern coastline. The rocket was to orbit the experimental satellite (a secret payload). It was a classified payload named XJY-6. But something went wrong, and the rocket-carrier did not inject the satellite into orbit as planned. The Xinhua news agency said a “malfunction occurred” after launch.
