The rocket orbited the next-generation Chinese crew capsule (新一代载人试验飞船) without cosmonauts on a demonstration flight.

The launch site is situated in Dasht-e Kavir Desert (also known as Kavir-e Namak and the Great Salt Desert) is a large desert lying in the middle of the Iranian plateau. The rocket orbited the Iranian “Noor” (meaning 'light' in Persian) military satellite. This mission was the first successful satellite launch by Iran since February 2015, but it was the first by the previously-unknown “Qased” rocket-carrier.
