2 satellites were launched to the Moon.
On September 10, 2011 at 13:08 UTC the "Delta-2” rocket-carrier was launched by United Launch Alliance from complex 17B at the Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, USA.
The rocket successfully boosted two NASA science satellites into space on looping, round-about trajectories to the Moon, the first step in an ambitious $496 million mission to map the cratered satellite's gravity and internal structure.
In one hour and 20 minutes after liftoff, the GRAIL-A (Gravity Recovery and Interior Laboratory) satellite was released from the Delta 2's second stage, followed a few minutes later by GRAIL-B. Both spacecraft will follow looping 2.6-million-mile trajectories to the Moon, a low-energy approach that allowed the use of a less expensive, medium-lift ... Read more »

Progress M-12M fail launch.
On August 24, 2011 at 13:00 UTC the "Soyuz-U” rocket-carrier was launched from Baykonur Cosmodrome. The rocket was to orbit the "Progress M-12M” unmanned spacecraft to supply the International Space Station.
The spacecraft failed to reach the designated orbit on Wednesday due to a rocket engine failure. The space freighter fell in South Siberia's Altai Republic, Russia after failing to separate from the Soyuz-U rocket, the first loss of the Progress freighter in the history of Russia’s space industry. A rocket engine failure is believed to have caused the accident.
It was the 136th launch of a Progress spacecraft including such series as Progress, Progress M, Progress M1 and Progress M-M. All of the previous 135 space vehicles were orbited.

The Japanese HTV-2 spacecraft in Astrophilately.
On January 27, 2011 at 14:45 UTC the Japanese HTV-2 (Kounotori - Japanese for "white stork"), unmanned supply spacecraft was docked to the ISS.

The ISS crew marked this event by canceling several covers with the board postmark dated the day of HTV docking.
It is necessary to remark that the covers were not delivered by the HTV. The covers were delivered to the ISS and then back to earth by a Russian cosmonaut aboard a Soyuz TMA spacecraft.
More details about HTV-2 docking may be read HERE.
