On 18 March 1965, Soviet cosmonaut Alexei Leonov took the first spacewalk. He became the first person to leave the confines of his spacecraft while in orbit and float in the vacuum of space. Alexei Leonov, who with Pavel Belyayev was flying onboard the Soviet “Voskhod-2” spacecraft, accomplished the first extra-vehicular activity – EVA, or spacewalk – on what was only the 14th piloted spaceflight in history.

On November 13, 2014 Russian Post issued a postage stamp devoted to the 100th birthday Anniversary of Georgy Nikolayevich BABAKIN, a Soviet engineer working in the space program. He was Chief Designer at the Lavochkin Design Bureau from 1965 until his death. Babakin's "NPO Lavochkin" brought improved engineering, testing and systems management, generating a series of successes — the first soft landing on the Moon by the “Luna-9”, the first probe of the Venusian atmosphere by “Venera-4”. The stamp depicts a portrait showing Georgy Babakin and the “Luna-17” robotic spacecraft.

The post card depicts the crew of the spacecraft (Soviet cosmonauts - Vladimir KOMAROV, Konstantin FEOKTISTOV and Boris EGOROV) and the landing capsule of the “Voskhod”.

Russian Post issued a postage stamp devoted to the 50th Anniversary of Valentina Tereshkova’s space flight. Although the 50th anniversary of the spaceflight took place on June 16, the postage stamp was issued only on July 5, 2013. The size of stamp is 32,5 X 65 millimeters. The stamp is printed by sheets of 8 (4 X 2) stamps. Total edition is 424 000 stamps (53 000 sheets). The First Day Cover was also issued on July 5. All 3 parts of FDC (a cover, a postage stamp and a post cancellation) depict a seagull soaring in the sky. The Tereshkova’s call sign during her historic space flight was "Chaika”. Chaika means a seagull in Russian.
